Shaykh Abu ‘Ubaydah, Mashhoor ibn Hasan as-Salmân was born in Palestine in 1380 H/ 1960 CE, though he emigrated to Jordan with his family when he was seven. At the age of ten, he began his formal study of Islam, including lessons in the sciences of Qur’an, Hadith and fiqh (jurisprudence). The most well-known of his shaykhs and teachers were Shaykh Muhammad Nâṣir ad-Deen al-Albâni and Shaykh Mustafâ az-Zarqâ’. Shaykh Mashhoor as-Salmân was one of the founders of the Al-Albâni Center in Jordan and the magazine Al-Asâlah and has been very active in Islamic da‘wah (propagation).
